Shruti Ganguly is a producer and director based in New York with a decade of film and media experience. She is the first graduate of NYU’s dual MBA-MFA program, and while at school was awarded the Kenshim Oshima Scholarship and Wayfare Fellowship. While in her final year of graduate school, Shruti produced two feature films with James Franco’s Rabbit Bandini Productions - Tar and Black Dog, Red Dog, which stemmed from collaborative class projects with multiple writer/directors, starring James Franco, Jessica Chastain, Mila Kunis, Whoopi Goldberg, and Chloe Sevigny. Shruti recently produced Yosemite, written and directed by Gabrielle Demeestere, also a Rabbit Bandini project, and is next producing H., by Rania Attieh and Daniel Garcia, which just won the Venice Biennale College Cinema prize and will premiere at the Venice Film Festival in 2014. She is also a Senior Producer at MTV World, spearheading the MTV Desi channel which targets South Asian youth. This past Fall, Shruti also won the prestigious INK Fellowship, in association with TED, and was invited to attend and speak at the INK Conference in India in October.
Shruti has also produced numerous short films and video content, which have premiered at Sundance, SXSW, Locarno, Raindance etc. Prior to NYU, Shruti ran NYLON TV where she produced over 200 videos and spearheaded NYLON Magazine’s strategy to be developed into a sustainable online media entity.
Shruti was featured in the Keanu Reeves’ documentary, Side by Side, a commentary on how digital technology has impacted the film business. She got her Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, and hails from India by way of Oman.
